New Light on the Early History of the Greater
Northwest Chapter 3 - The Park River Post 1800-1801 |
![]() |
Alexander Henry kept a a very fine journal. Easy reading. Anyone familiar with the Drayton area along the Red River will feel right at home with his chapter on the Park River Post. You'll even recognize many of the places he talks about. David Thompson's comments help tie together the original lay of the land with the later day geography. Later day meaning the later 1800's. Interesting to note, if you super-imposed the town of St. Andrews on a map that contained the location of Henry's post, you would find the post would have been located in approximately the center of the town. Today, neither the town or the post exist.
